Living with nature
With great recognition and pleasure I have read the books by Susan Smit. Living in harmony with nature is something that I also find very important and that I try to reflect on every day. We often forget the value of the natural treasures around us and take it for granted.
Family Matters
Every now and then we organize a Knolday in the family. Knolparty, according to my three year old second cousin. Even though there is an ocean between us, online we can make plans and share love and ideas for traveling.
Valuable Coral Reefs
It's stormy weather on Bonaire, a beautiful moment of reflection and reflecting on the power of nature. Recently I was at a presentation of WWF on Bonaire. How wonderful that they are getting more active here. Their mission for the coming years is the protection of the coral reefs. Very important for the entire ecosystem and life in the Caribbean. The sea and the coral are also very inspiring for artists and also for my work.
Cultural Consciousness
The Dutch Professor Barend van Heusden proclaims that art is the ability to reflect on ourselves and the world around us. That shapes our self-image and our cultural consciousness.
Let’s clean my desk… Not!
Yes, I also have it, like almost everyone around me: Corona. As soon as I start to feel a little bit less miserable, I crawl behind my work office. My table top is always nice and messy. I want to have everything at hand and be able to leave it until I catch up again.
Saying goodbye does not exist
Especially on an island like Bonaire, moving overseas is a drastic operation. In the years that I have lived here, I have experienced very often, that we were able to welcome people and had to wave them goodbye again. Farewell is part of it, if you live here.
